Columbia University's Society of Fellows in the Humanities is one of the oldest and most established postdoctoral fellowship programs in the United States. The Society is proud to sponsor some of the most interesting interdisciplinary work in the humanities currently conducted in the United States.
Housed in the Heyman Center for the Humanities, the Society serves as a hub of vibrant intellectual activity built around its Fellows and Governing Board, which includes some of Columbia's celebrated scholars and teachers. The fellowship offers a supportive and peaceful environment for junior scholars to produce the first works that are critical for launching their careers.
Alumni of the Society have become tenured faculty at some of the finest institutions of higher education in the United States and abroad, and include top-ranking scholars in fields such as anthropology, political science, music, art history, classics, and philosophy.
