Jonathon Kahn Ph.D.,
Columbia University, Department of Religion
Jonathon Kahn received his Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion from Columbia University in 2003. His scholarly interests lie at the intersection of religion, democracy, and race in the United States. His dissertation, "The Religious Ethics of W. E. B. Du Bois," was a study of the pragmatist roots of Du Bois’s uses of religious concepts, narratives, and typologies. While at the Society, Jonathon will expound upon his examination of Du Bois’s writings by more fully elaborating an African American tradition of religious pragmatism. He will teach Contemporary Civilization.
