Columbia Interactive is a unit of Columbia Digital Knowledge Ventures LLC
(Columbia DKV). Columbia DKV is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Columbia
University. Columbia DKV is committed to protecting the privacy and security
of the users of our sites. This privacy policy describes our practices
regarding: (1) what personally identifiable information of yours is
collected from you; (2) who is collecting the information; (3) how the
information is used; (4) with whom the information may be shared; (5) your
choices regarding the collection and use of the information; and (6) the
security procedures we use to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of
information under Columbia Interactive's control.
Please read this privacy policy carefully. We may change it from time to
time to address new issues and reflect changes on our sites, and as the need
arises. All changes to this privacy policy will be posted here. Please refer
to this privacy policy regularly.

This privacy policy applies to your use of all of the sites and services
operated by Columbia DKV including Columbia Interactive and any other site
that Columbia DKV may operate in the future (collectively, the "Columbia DKV
Sites"). Unless otherwise stated, all references to the Columbia DKV Sites
in this privacy policy include all such sites. Except as specifically
described below, this privacy policy DOES NOT apply to your use of any other
site owned by Columbia University or other Columbia affiliated sites or
unaffiliated third-party sites to which any of the Columbia DKV Sites link.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any such sites before you
reveal personally identifiable information to them while visiting their
sites, or by obtaining any products or services from them.
General Policy: Columbia DKV is the sole owner of the information collected
on the Columbia DKV Sites. Columbia DKV will not sell, share, rent or
otherwise disclose personally identifiable information collected on the
Columbia Interactive Sites except to affiliates.
Columbia Interactive collects and uses certain personally identifiable
information that is necessary to facilitate your use of the Columbia
Interactive Sites. Columbia Interactive may also ask you to submit
additional information about yourself, and may use the required and
additional information for its own and third parties' marketing and
promotional purposes. For example, Columbia Interactive may send you e-mails
to introduce new content, products or services that we think might be of
interest to you. As explained below, you may choose not to submit
information that is not necessary to facilitate your use of the Columbia
Interactive Sites. You also may "opt-out" of allowing Columbia Interactive
to use your personally identifiable information for its own marketing or
promotional purposes and those of its affiliates.
To use certain interactive features of the Columbia Interactive Sites, users
must first register. During registration you are required to provide certain
contact information, such as a user name, password and e-mail address. This
information may be used to contact you about the services on the Columbia
Interactive Sites in which you express an interest. It may be used to notify
you about changes to the Columbia Interactive Sites' Terms and Conditions of
Use and this Privacy Policy, and it may be used to contact you if it appears
you are having difficulty using services offered by the Columbia Interactive
Sites.
We collect information from users on our enrollment forms for E-Seminar
offerings. We may require users to provide contact information (such as
names and addresses), financial information (such as credit card numbers)
and additional information. This information is used for billing purposes,
to fulfill orders, to handle customer service inquiries, and for E-Seminar
review and evaluation purposes. and may be shared with third parties who may
follow up with course enrollees for course evaluation purposes. If we have
trouble processing an enrollment, or you contact us about an enrollment, we
may use this contact information to reach you.
If you offer personal information online on the Columbia Interactive Sites
through any interactive feature, such as a forum, message board, chat room,
annotation feature, or similar service, third parties will have access to,
and may collect and use, that information. Although Columbia Interactive
strives to protect its users' privacy, Columbia Interactive cannot guarantee
the security of information you post through these interactive features. You
disclose such information at your own risk.
Persons under 13 may not contribute to any interactive feature on the
Columbia Interactive Sites.
If you send us an e-mail with questions or comments to our e-mail address,
help@ci.columbia.edu, we may use your personal information to
respond to your questions or comments. We may also share your information
with a third party we designate to assist with our response. We may file
your comments for future reference, or we may discard the information after
we have reviewed it.
The Columbia Interactive Sites may request information from users through
surveys. Participation is voluntary, and users may choose whether to
disclose this information. Information requested may include contact,
demographic or other information. Survey information may be used to monitor
or improve the use and satisfaction of this site. The information may also
be used for marketing and promotional purposes, and to notify you of new
content related to your interests. Contact information may be used to notify
users of survey results.
A cookie is a piece of data stored on a user's own hard drive containing
information about the user. Columbia Interactive may employ cookies to
recognize you and your access privileges on the Columbia Interactive Sites.
These cookies keep track of user names and passwords, and personalize the
Columbia Interactive Sites for users. You can set your browser to notify you
when you receive cookies, and you may decline to accept them. If you choose
not to accept cookies from the Columbia Interactive Sites, some parts may
function less efficiently.
We use IP addresses to Log Files:analyze trends, administer the sites, track users'
movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP
addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Sharing of Aggregate Information: We may share aggregated demographic
information with third parties. Aggregate information is not linked to any
personal information that can identify any individual person.
We give you the opportunity to "opt-out" of having your personally
identifiable information used by Columbia Interactive for purposes not
directly related to your use of the Columbia Interactive Sites. Persons who
register for the Columbia Interactive Sites, or who buy a service from or
through the Columbia Interactive Sites, but do not want to receive any
marketing or promotional materials from Columbia Interactive, or do not want
Columbia Interactive to share personally identifiable information with its
affiliates for purposes unrelated to a particular transaction for which such
information may be necessary, can so notify us.
You may, at any time, opt-out of such uses by Columbia Interactive
that are not directly related to your use of the Columbia Interactive Sites
by leaving all of the subjects of interest (Architecture, Arts, etc.) unchecked on the registration page,
or by sending us an e-mail at help@ci.columbia.edu.
Protecting your privacy and your information is a top priority. We have
taken careful measures to secure both your information and our physical
premises. For example, we exercise great care in providing secure
transmission of your information from your computer to our servers. Our
secure server software encrypts information before transmitting it, ensuring
that all Internet transactions remain private (unless sent by an unsecured
means, such as e-mail).
In certain circumstances, and as exceptions to this privacy policy, we will,
without notice to you, release specific information about you or your
account to comply with any valid legal process such as a search warrant,
subpoena, statute or court order, or in other special cases, such as, for
example, an attempted breach of the security of the Columbia Interactive
Sites, or a physical threat to you or others.
