In this online CME course, you will learn about
- diagnosis and current treatment options for cognitive and behavioral disorders associated with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias
- diagnosis and management of Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and dementia with Lewy bodies
- the role of genetic testing for dementia
- legal and ethical issues for Alzheimer's disease
After completion of this course, you should
- be familiar with the distinctions between dementia and mild cognitive impairment
- be aware of the findings on history, examination, and laboratory tests for AD and related disorders
- be familiar with the findings on structural and functional brain imaging in mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease, and related disorders
- understand role of neuropsychological testing in screening for mild cognitive impairment and dementia
- be familiar with mental-status screening tests for use in clinical practice be up-to-date on current treatment modalities for the cognitive and behavioral symptoms of Alzheimer's disease
- be knowledgeable of the role of genetics in Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia
- be able to provide information to patients and families regarding legal and ethical issues
